Board Member Role & Responsibilities

We're building a mission-driven advisory board of passionate professionals committed to shaping the future of L.E.A.D. Charter School.

Qualifications What you bring to the table

  • Two-year term Agree to serve a two-year term with an option to extend for another two years.
  • Education or child services background Experience in education, special education, disability services, child development, mental health, social work, or related fields.
  • Nonprofit or charter school knowledge Knowledge of nonprofit operations, school governance, or charter school systems.
  • Specialized professional expertise Legal, financial, accounting, fundraising, marketing, strategic planning, or community relations.
  • Governance and planning understanding Understanding of oversight, planning, and policy-making functions required of school boards.
  • Ethical governance commitment Ability to support ethical governance, transparency, and mission-driven decision-making.
  • Fiduciary responsibility Willingness to uphold fiduciary responsibilities and ensure appropriate use of funds.

Commitment What we ask of you

  • Active meeting participation Regular participation in advisory board meetings and school events throughout the year.
  • Reliability and consistency Reliability and consistency in fulfilling board duties with a high level of accountability.
  • Community connections Connections within the local community, nonprofit networks, business sector, or parent communities.
  • Visibility and partnership building Ability to strengthen partnerships, visibility, and external support for the school.
  • Grant and donor experience Experience with grant writing, donor engagement, or philanthropic outreach.
  • Fundraising strategy support Ability to support or enhance the school's fundraising strategy and development efforts.
  • Collaborative communication Ability to work collaboratively with board members, administrators, families, and partners.

The goal of the Board of Directors is to support the formal board's philosophy of effectively overseeing L.E.A.D. Educate, Inc. The Board will contribute valuable resources to L.E.A.D.'s mission while offering a balanced perspective. Members will be selected from businesses and academia.
